Kinetic Sculpture

Friedrich Becker, Kinetic Jewelry by Friedrich Becker,

Friedrich Becker, Kinetic Jewelry by Friedrich Becker,
-- Now available in its 2nd edition -- The standard reference work for everybody interested in contemporary jewelry design Movement came to be the main theme of Friedrich Becker's artistic work. In the early 1960s, he began to create the first kinetic jewelry: objects that remained constantly in motion due to the natural body movements. The ideas of his small sculptures, having the intention of a constructivist language of forms, are also translated into his large-scale sculptures. This documentation is the first survey of the many-sided oeuvre of this significant artist: all areas of his work are represented -- from the 1950s to his unexpected death in May 1997. Text in English and German.

Shingu: Message from Nature by Susumu Shingu,
Shingu: Message from Nature by Susumu Shingu,
Susumu Shingu's graceful, wind- and water-powered kinetic sculpture is presented here in more than two hundred spectacular color photographs, along with commentary and the artist's sketches, in this comprehensive monograph of his thirty-year career. Shingu's sculpture is found around the world, from all over Japan to France, Italy, and the United States. His infinite curiosity about the wonders of nature has driven him to write and illustrate several books and to create theater pieces in which he integrates the world of his sculpture and human movements. All of these endeavors are collected here, and combined with the artist's comments, essays by Pierre Restany and Renzo Piano, and an interview with Joseph Giovannini, this monograph is a complete portrait of Shingu's diverse career.
